Hello!
It probably seems like you've been hearing WAY too much from the Brucato's lately, but this is really special! We are heading out Wednesday toward Bend, Oregon, where we plan on viewing the Total Solar Eclipse of 2017 -- which heads all the way across the United States on Monday, August 21, 2017.
Talk about a big event ... Katy Zappala, along with her astronomer husband Bob, are eclipse aficionados in a big way. They have traveled all over the world in search of Total Solar Eclipses, including cruising in the middle of oceans for a good view!
Katy and her friend Anita started researching places to stay over 2 1/2 years ago. Once a place was found, Katy sent out an email to find out who might be interested in going -- and I think there are about 30 of us all converging on Bend next week from all over the US!
Our route will take us to Las Vegas and Reno on our way up. Then, once the eclipse is over, we will be heading to Whidbey Island, Washington to spend a couple of days with long-time friend from graduate school, Burt Jones and his family, along with the Zappala's. Finally, we will head back south, stopping for a day in southern Oregon for some wine tasting, then to Sacramento, California and finally to the Vaughans in Sierra Madre for a visit and some doctor appointments. (Always like to combine things whenever possible!). We'll head back to Tucson on August 31.
So, if you would like to come along, (hopefully) I have included a "add your email address here" link. You need to enter your email address, and click "submit." You will then receive, in your in-box, a link to Feedburner. You need to click the link on this email in order to confirm you want to receive the blog. If you don't, it won't come automatically to your mail box!
So, on that note, I will close -- lots to do between now and Wednesday morning when we leave -- things like laundry, ironing and packing just to name a few! Take care and sending lots of love and hope we'll see you along with us!
